Students demand exemption of professor of Islamic Studies Department of DU

Professor of Islamic Studies Department of Dhaka University (DU) and former Vice Chancellor of Islamic Arabic University. DU students held a human chain and protest march to demand permanent exemption against Mohammad Abdur Rashid by raising various charges including academic plagiarism, corruption and irregularities.

On Sunday (September 8) at 10 am, the students formed a human chain at the foot of Aparajeya Bengal of Dhaka University. After the human chain, a protest march was held on the campus. Later, at 11 am, the students gave a memorandum to the vice-chancellor.

In the memorandum, the students mentioned two points of demand. They are-

In view of all the allegations of corruption, arbitrariness and irregularities that have been presented, this professor should be sacked immediately to set a precedent of justice; Dr. recruitment of teachers. Abdur Rashid should cancel the appointment of all the teachers and officials appointed by corruption and political power and appoint qualified candidates who are victims of discrimination.

Besides, along with the memorandum, the students handed over the list of published news and evidences (receipt) of the allegations against Professor Abdur Rashid attached to the memorandum.
