Clash between two groups of BNP over occupation of factory in Tangail

In Tangail, there have been several clashes and arson incidents between two factions of the BNP over occupation and dominance of factories in an industrial area. At least 10 injured people were rescued and admitted to the hospital. The condition of one of them is critical and has been referred to Dhaka. After the incident, there is a lot of tension between the leaders and activists of the two groups.

The incident took place under the over bridge at Ghenibhanga bus station in the industrial area on Tuesday (September 3) night.

According to local residents, since the fall of the government in the anti-quota reform discrimination student movement on August 5, there has been tension in the industrial area between former BNP leader Feroz Haider Khan group and upazila BNP joint secretary Khandkar Anwar Parvez Shah Alam group over occupation of factories in industrial area and share of extortion. These two groups have already tried to occupy some factories. Panic spread among the factory owners and employees.

Khandkar Anwar Parvez Shahalam and his group complained that a group of 20-30 people including Abdur Razzaq, Setu Haider Khan Alim and Hasmat tried to occupy various factories on behalf of Feroze Haider Khan.

On the other hand, 40-50 activists including Khandkar Anwar Parvez Shah Alam, Arif, Jahangir Sujan, Shaheen, Salim, Alamgir, Pappu and Babul of Joyer Para are trying to occupy the factory, Firaj Haider Khan and his group people alleged.

The industrial area has become heated for the last 20-25 days. Later on Tuesday night, two groups of leaders and activists clashed over the occupation of the office of the Labor Party in the area of ​​Ganibhanga bus station. At least 10 people were injured on both sides. Shafiqul Islam Shafiq and Abul Kalam of Feroz Haider group were seriously injured in the attack. They were rescued and admitted to Kumudini Hospital.

One of them was referred to Dhaka Medical at night. Offices were vandalized and motorcycles were set on fire. Litigation is ongoing on behalf of both the groups.

In this regard, accused Feroze Haider Khan and Khandaker Anwar Parvez Shahalam have made counter-complaints blaming each other. Both sides said that they are preparing for the case.

OC of Mirzapur Police Station. Mosharof Hossain said that the police brought the situation under control after the incident. Neither party has filed a lawsuit so far.
