Gazette published by Israq as the mayor of Dhaka South

The Election Commission (EC) has published the Gazette by declaring BNP leader Israq Hossain as the mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) in the court's verdict.

The gazette was published on the government website on Sunday (April 23). In the meantime, the late BNP leader and united Dhaka City Corporation Mayor Sadek Hossain Khoka's son's father got the opportunity to provide the DNC's civic amenities.

The Dhaka South City Corporation was elected on February 7, 2021. Awami League Sheikh Fazle Noor Tapas was declared the winner of the mayor in the elections. However, BNP candidate Israq Hossain filed a case at the Election Tribunal on March 7 of that year seeking the cancellation of the DSCC elections and the results on allegations of irregularities and unacitation.

The then Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda, Returning Officer in the case. Eight people, including Abdul Baten and South City Mayor Noor Tapas, were disputed.

In the changing political situation, the verdict of the case was held on March 25. Dhaka's first joint district judge and election tribunal canceled the results of the election; Isharak declared the mayor.

The verdict on March 25, despite the more legal crisis, has been spent just one month to review it. This is because the EC has sought the opinion of the Law Ministry on whether there is any complication in publishing the Gazette by declaring Israq Hossain as mayor.

Earlier, Chittagong City Corporation BNP leader Shahadat Hossain announced the Gazette in his name when the mayor was declared mayor in the court. Accordingly, he is now performing the oath.

The Gazette of the results was released on February 2 after the February 1 2021 elections. Accordingly, Fazle Noor Tapas was viable as the mayor of the DSCC as the winner. Tapas went abroad before the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government in 2021; He did not return home after the politics of politics in the mass uprising on August 7.

The interim government expelled the mayors of all metropolitan and municipalities, including the two city corporations of Dhaka, with responsibility; As a result, the government appointed the administrator to manage the DSCC.

Fazle Noor Tapas took over as mayor of the DSCC on May 7, 2020. That is, the corporation has a term till May 7.

Israq is the mayor of the Gazette published on the advice of the Law Ministry, but how long he has the opportunity to sit in this position, it may be known within two days. Because, Ishaq himself said that after the publication of the Gazette, he would sit with the lawyers and make the matter clear.
