Ghatail Upazila Parishad Election Winners

Muhammad Arif Hossain, the chairman candidate of the pineapple symbol, won the chairmanship of the upazila parishad election in Tangail's Ghatail in private results. Abdus Chalam Khan (Awal) won the Tubewell symbol for the post of Vice Chairman. Taslima Jasmin Papia won the butterfly symbol for the post of female vice chairman. Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Assistant Returning Officer Irtiza Hasan announced the results privately after counting the votes on Tuesday night.

The assistant returning officer said that the total number of voters in the upazila was 3 lakh 60 thousand 781 people. Among them, Muhammad Arif Hossain, candidate of pineapple symbol, was elected privately by getting 52 thousand 315 votes for the post of chairman. His only rival is the current vice-president of the upazila Awami League. Lokman Hossain got 41 thousand 953 votes on motorcycle symbol.

Abdus Salam Khan (Awal) was elected as Vice Chairman in Tubewell symbol by getting 43 thousand 473 votes. His closest rival, Upazila A. League member and former vice chairman Kazi Arju got 28 thousand 900 votes in Tala symbol.

Tasleema Jasmin Papia won the post of female vice-chairman by securing 47 thousand 122 votes in the butterfly symbol.

His closest rival, former female vice-chairman Shahina Sultana Shilpi got 29,833 votes on the sewing machine symbol.

Polling was held from 8 am to 4 pm. However, some isolated incidents have been reported in a few centres. But there was no major violence.
