Israel lost 300 soldiers in the campaign against Hamas

Four Israeli soldiers were killed when a bomb exploded in a Hamas trap in Rafah, southern Gaza. Seven more soldiers were injured in the incident. Five of them are in critical condition.

The deceased are Major Tal Pshebilsky Shalov (24), Staff Sergeant Ettin Carlsbran (20), Sergeant Almog Shalom (19) and Sergeant Yar Levin (19).

According to the IDF's preliminary investigation, the soldiers raided a building in the Rafah city of southern Gaza on Monday. Initially, they set off an explosive to make sure that there is a trap inside the building. As none of the other explosives hidden in it immediately exploded, two soldiers entered the three-storey building.

But when the bomb that was hidden at that time exploded, part of the building collapsed on some soldiers. Later, the IDF claimed to have found an underground tunnel inside the building, which Hamas said was used in the building.

The IDF also said that in addition to the four soldiers killed, seven others were wounded. Five of them are in critical condition. Israel lost 300 soldiers after the ground operation against Hamas in Gaza. The number also includes a police officer who was killed on Saturday during an operation to rescue four hostages.
