Legendary actor Praveer Mitra, known as the Nawab of the silver screen, has passed away. He died on Sunday (January 5) in a hospital in the capital.
He was under treatment in intensive care unit (ICU) in critical condition.
Actor Misha Saudagar confirmed that he died around 10:30 pm. He said this in his verified Facebook post.
Praveer Mitra was suffering from various physical complications including lack of oxygen in the body for a long time. He was admitted to the hospital on December 22.
Praveer Mitra was born on 18 August 1943 in Chandina, Comilla. He grew up in Old Dhaka.
His full name is Praveer Kumar Mitra. He was involved in theater since his school days. Prabir Mitra acted in Rabindranath Tagore's play 'Dakghar' during his school days. He started his journey in films by acting in the movie 'Jalchhabi' produced in 1969.
Directed by late H Akbar, the film was released on January 1, 1971.

He has been irregular in acting for several years due to physical ailments. At that time he spent his days and nights under house arrest.
