Sheikh Hasina should be silent in India: Dr. Muhammad Yunus

The former prime minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina was taken by the chief advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus. He said that if India wants to keep him until Bangladesh asks for his return, he should remain silent.

He said this in an interview with the Indian news agency PTI at his official residence in Dhaka on Thursday (August 5).

Dr. Yunus said that no one is comfortable with his position in India. Because we want him back to bring him to justice. He is in India. Sometimes he speaks. That's what's causing the problem. If he had remained silent, we would have forgotten him. People would forget him. He lived in his own world. But he is sitting in India talking, giving instructions; Nobody likes it.

He said, everyone is understanding it. We said quite firmly that he should keep quiet. This is an unfriendly gesture towards us; He has been sheltered there and is campaigning from there. Not that he went there naturally. He fled because of the uprising and public outrage.

The chief advisor of the interim government basically meant Hasina's statement on August 13. In that statement, Hasina demanded that those involved in 'terrorist activities', killings and vandalism in Bangladesh be investigated, identified and brought under punishment.

Dr. Yunus said, except for Hasina, everyone in Bangladesh is Islamist, India should get out of this idea. Bangladesh will bring her (Hasina) back. Because this is what the people want.

He says yes, he should be brought back. Otherwise the people of Bangladesh will not live in peace. The kind of atrocities he committed, he should be judged here in front of everyone.
