3 persons have been sentenced to death and fined Tk 20,000 each in the case of killing husband and wife by cutting and slaughtering them in Alamdanga, Chuadanga. Apart from this, another person was sentenced to 2 years rigorous imprisonment by the court.
On Tuesday (April 2) at noon in the presence of the defendants, Chuadanga Additional Sessions Judge Second Court Judge Md. Masud Ali announced the verdict. Later the convicts were taken to Chuadanga District Jail.
Those sentenced to death are Sahabul Haque (24) son of Bajlur Rahman of Clubpara of Asannagar village of Alamdanga upazila of Chuadanga, Rajib Hossain (25) son of Pintu Rahman of the same village and Vidyut Ali (23) son of Masud Ali of the same village. In this case, Shakil Hossain (23), son of Tahaj Uddin of Skulpara of Asannagar village, has been sentenced to two years rigorous imprisonment.
According to the details of the case and statement, the elderly Nazeer Mia and his wife Farida Khatun lived in the old bazaarpara of Chuadanga Alamdanga municipal area. Like every day, on the night of September 23, 2022, they fell asleep after eating. Sometime that night, unknown miscreants entered Nazeer Mia's house with the intention of stealing. First Nazeer slaughtered Mia inside the bathroom by tying her hands and feet and hacking her to death. Later he killed his wife inside the house.
After this incident, Daliara Parveen, the daughter of the deceased, called several times on the mobile phone used by her parents on the morning of September 24 of that year, but it was found to be switched off. After reaching the spot, he saw the bloody bodies of both the daughter and the son-in-law. Later, the police recovered the body from the spot.
Daliara Parveen, daughter of the victim, filed a murder case on September 25 at Alamdanga police station accusing unknown persons as the plaintiff. Case number-11.
The investigating officer of the case, Sub-Inspector of the District Intelligence Police Mohammad Shihab Uddin submitted an investigation report to the court on January 31, 2023 accusing Sahabul Haque, Rajib Hossain, Bidyut Ali and Shakil Hossain involved in buying the victim's mobile phone after the investigation.
19 out of 37 witnesses proved beyond doubt, Judge Md. Masud Ali announced the verdict in the presence of the accused. Additional Public Prosecutor (PP) Advocate Gias Uddin was the state side in this case.
Advocate Bajlul Rahman, Advocate Nazmul Hasan Lovelu, Advocate Mokhlesur Rahman, Advocate Asaduzzaman Milton and Advocate Anarul Haque were the defense counsels.
